Open events will be using an “ABCD” format. All athletes start in the same round. For example, all athletes wishing to play men’s singles should register for “MS”. Your division is selected based on the first two rounds of results.
Players may only register for a MAXIMUM OF 3 EVENTS and may only register for one level per event. E.g If you register for A Men’s Singles you may not register for B Men’s singles, but you may register for B Men’s Doubles
Order of Play:
Singles begin at 1pm Friday .
Doubles will begin Saturday morning at 9am followed by Mixed Doubles.
All main round finals and bronze medal matches will be played on Sunday. Anyone who is non-medically absent for a scheduled match after their first match of the tournament will lose all points accumulated in the tournament for that event.
Participants must have an active membership with their province. The competition will be conducted under the official rules of Badminton Canada.
The age group of the player will be based on the age of the player on the LAST DAY of the tournament. For example, with the 2019 Yonex Longard Open tournament, the players age on February 10th will be used. So, if a player is aged 12 years old on that day, they will be able to play in U13.
