DESCRIPTION:Sponsored by: Badminton Nova Scotia; Victor Rackets \nTournament Contact:\nJennifer Petrie: executive_director@badmintonns.ca \nLocation:\nCanada Games Centre .\n26 Thomas Raddall Dr\, Halifax\, NS B3S 0E2 \nOnly indoor footwear is allowed on the gym floor. \nTimes:\nSaturday: warm-up and registration at 8:00 AM\, with the first singles matches being called at 8:30 AM\, with doubles and mixed to follow. \nPlease note – The tournament will do its best to avoid players traveling from outside of HRM to play on the first set of courts called at 8:30 AM but no guarantees can be made until the draws are created. \nEligibility \nAge restrictions and qualifications are based on the age categories listed under events.  Open events have no age restrictions. To compete in an age category the player must be eligible for that age category for the entire 2019/2020 season. \nThe competition is open to all athletes who have an active membership with their provincial or territorial badminton association. The competition will be conducted under the official rules of Badminton Canada. \nEvents:\nU11\, U13\, U15\, U17\, Open A\, Open B and Open C-MS\, WS\, MD\, WD\, XD. \nThe total number of players (not including the U11 or skills competition) will be limited to a maximum of 80 players to ensure the tournament will run smoothly and finish at an appropriate time. \nAge Categories  \nU11 – 2010 or later\nU13 – 2008 – 2009\nU15 – 2006-2007\nU17 – 2004-2005 \nEntry Fee: All participants must be members in good standing with their respective provincial organization. \n$25 for 1 event\, $30 for 2 events and $35 for 3 events\n$20 for U11 singles and doubles \nLate Entry – $10 additional fee (ex. $35 for 1 event\, $40 for 2 events and $45 for 3 events) \nRegistration deadline: Friday\, February 28th 2020 at 11:59 PM\nWithdrawal deadline: Friday\, February 28th 2020 at 11:59 PM\nLate Entry deadline: Tuesday\, March 3rd 2020 at 11:59 PM with an additional fee of $10.00  \nAll entry fees should be paid in cash or cheque at the event. Credit card or debit card will not be accepted. \nRegistration \n Under 11 Age Division \nNEW: We are piloting a U11 division at this tournament. The U11 division will be gender-neutral (boys and girls competing together) singles and doubles events. Singles will be played on a half-court and doubles on a full court.  All matches will be best 2 out of 3 games to 11 points. Pending registration numbers – we will do our best to have all U11 events be round robin format. All U11 matches will have a volunteer on the court to assist with rules\, scoring and pace of play. \nSkills Competition \nNEW: We are piloting a Skills Competition: the skills event will be open to U11 and U13 players only for this tournament.  The skills competition will test players on their speed\, attack and accuracy in three skill-testing events.  This is FREE for players to participate in if they have registered in the tournament. \nTo register for Skills Competition\, please add a note to your entry. \nShuttles:\nNylon shuttles will be used and provided for U11 / U13 events unless both players choose to provide their own feather shuttles (tubes may be purchased for $15 per tube.) \nFeather shuttles for U15 / U17/ Open A / Open B. Players provide their own. Tubes may be purchased for $30.00 at the registration desk \nBNS Eyewear Policy: \nBNS strongly recommends all athletes wear protective eyewear. \n  \n
