Coaches

Coaching Is Key!

Regardless of the type of club, program, or playtime, coaching is vital to a well run program and the development of badminton. Badminton Nova Scotia can assist with developing competent, knowledgeable, and certified badminton coaches to lead programs at your club.

Badminton Nova Scotia relies upon having enthusiastic community coaches who are either former athletes or parents/community members that contribute to providing a quality badminton experience across Nova Scotia. Coaches begin at the community level and progress to supporting the development of competitive and high performance athletes who represent Nova Scotia at the Atlantic and National levels. Badminton Canada and Badminton Nova Scotia use the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) to educate badminton coaches. All coaches in Nova Scotia are encouraged to become certified with the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). The National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP)

The National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP), launched in 1974 and delivered in partnership with the government of Canada, provincial/territorial governments, and national/provincial/territorial sport organizations, gives coaches the confidence to succeed.

The NCCP is the formal coaching education program, not just for badminton, but all sports across Canada. The coaching courses, developed by Badminton Canada and approved by the NCCP, offer an educational program aimed at upgrading the abilities and knowledge of coaches. It caters to the needs of coaches at all levels of the sport – whether you are new to badminton or have 50 years of experience. Badminton Canada has designed a coach development pathway that Badminton Nova Scotia encourages coaches, umpires, athletes and parents to get involved with.

The NCCP process follows the following progression: In Training: Badminton specific workshop has been completed by the coach. Trained: Badminton specific workshop and the required multi-sport modules has been completed by the coach.
