Officials

Love All… Play!

Badminton Nova Scotia recognizes the importance of having trained officials at tournaments. Officials ensure high quality tournaments by having properly enforced rules and regulations. Officiating at any level provides an opportunity to develop leadership skills, meet like-minded Badminton enthusiasts and give back to the sporting community.

BNS encourages officials to get involved in the Badminton Nova Scotia Officiating Program. This program will assist new and developing officials to gain experience and practice skills in the areas of umpiring, service judging and line judging. The following steps outline the learning and evaluation process to become a certified official with Badminton Nova Scotia.
  • Step 1: Umpire in Training – Attend Regional Umpire Course.
  • Step 2: Regional Umpire – Meet requirements and evaluation for certification.
  • Step 3: Provincial Umpire – Meet requirements and evaluation for certification.
  • Step 4: National Umpire – Certification as a National Umpire is available through Badminton Canada to qualified Provincial Umpires. Details of the learning and testing requirements are under the jurisdiction of Badminton Canada.
