Competition Levels – Nova Scotia

Badminton Nova Scotia’s competitions and events are organized to enable new and experienced athletes the opportunity to play, develop, and compete at a level appropriate for their enjoyment. 

JUNIOR DIVISIONS

U13 Players are eligible to compete in this age category provided they remain under 13 years of age throughout the calendar year in which the National Championship are held. U15 Players are eligible to compete in this age category provided they remain under 15 years of age throughout the calendar year in which the National Championship are held. U17 Players are eligible to compete in this age category provided they remain under 17 years of age throughout the calendar year in which the National Championship are held. U19 Players are eligible to compete in this age category provided they remain under 19 years of age throughout the calendar year in which the National Championship are held.

SENIOR DIVISIONS (Adult 19+)

A – Open Athletes in this division are typically individuals interested in competing at the highest level (I.e. Atlantic and Provincial Scotia Series Competitions). B – Competitive Athletes in this division are typically individuals who have previously played competitively and are not at the Open A level. *Players 16 and older may play in the B divisions when there are insufficient registrations to offer a U17 and/or U19 draw, at the discretion of the tournament organizer.* C – Recreational Athletes in this division are typically individuals who may have previously played competitively at a local level but are looking to play other recreational athletes from other regions of the province. D – Leisure Athletes in this division are typically individuals who enjoy playing badminton and are looking for an opportunity to play other leisure athletes from other regions of the province.
Masters 40+ Athletes in this division are individuals interested in competing in tournaments who are 40 years of age or older.
